Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mr. Kurland attended the University of Southern California's school of Cinema Television. Shortly after graduating he moved to New York to begin work on what would be his debut feature This is not a Robbery. The film was shot during the summer of 2005 with longtime collaborator Lucas Jansen. Under their Red Marker Films banner, Kurland and Jansen produced and directed two feature documentaries and several short documentary films, including their work as part of ESPN peabody award winning 30 for 30 documentary series. Following the success of the series, Mr. Kurland worked with ESPN to develop a short film and comedy platform, under the Content Development banner. He has worked with several production companies as both a director, writer and producer developing creative commercial work.
He is currently at work on his third feature documentary.
Mr. Kurland splits his time between Los Angeles, CA and Brooklyn, NY
